Emerald Green : Accents for the Home

emerald-green-accents-home

Emerald green was Pantone’s colour of the year in 2013 but it seems that this year (at least this fall) it is making a bit of a comeback.  Last week, I dragged my husband into a few home decor stores (I like to browse, he would rather do anything else that look at home decor).  I noticed so many deep and rich emerald green tones. I love them!

Emerald Green Inspiration

I love the luxurious and sophisticated element that emerald green offers to any space. Clean white (or almost white) walls have been the go-to for most home owners and decorators but lately I have noticed some designers opting for deeper jewel toned walls in smaller spaces like foyers and home offices.

Don’t these deep green walls add some intimacy and sophistication to this living room?  The neutral tones like the cognac sofa, area rug and the black and white accent really stand out!

This is such a glamorous hue.  It looks amazing when paired with marble and brass.  This dining room is a stunning blend of modern elements and rustic textures (like the flooring and the wall).

Accents for the home

Are you ready to introduce a new accent colour to your home? Simple accessories are the easiest way to do just that.  Here are some favourite pieces to add this sophisticated hue into your space:

Velvet – I love texture in a room.  It adds depth and this colour in a velvet is just the perfect example of luxury.

Glass – Who doesn’t love fresh flowers? A glass vase is a chic way to display seasonal foliage.

Hand knotted rugs – I love an area rug with pattern – it is like art on the floor.  And the mix of these super saturated green tones, love!

tile – I love the arabesque shape and these tiles are like jewelry in a kitchen or bathroom. This is a bit more of a committment, but aren’t these so pretty?!

Art –  this is a way to pull a space together. I love abstract pieces like this one – as they blend green tones with neutrals and that wood frame adds a natural element, too.

towels – If you follow my blog, you will know that I recently posted about these Turkish towels and these cotton hand towels are perfect for the bathroom or kitchen, to add a pop of colour.

Small furniture – I love a bench – in a hallway / entry, end of a bed and in a rich colour like this how can you go wrong?! And those brass legs – so chic!

Art – I love how clean and bright this art piece is! It is perfect for a bathroom or a guest bedroom.

Accent chair – This deep forest green tone paired with brass is so sophisticated.  This accent chair would be a beautiful piece in any living room or large master bedroom.

Pillow – You know I love pillows and they are my go-to when I want to switch up my decor.  Either covers or new pillows are such an easy and affordable way to update your space.

I personally feel this tone is rich and so versatile. But I know many have bad flashbacks of the 1980’s when this colour’ was all the rage’! What do you think of emerald green?
