home-tour-warehouse-loft

This warehouse loft model home is a past project of ours….we blended some of the typical warehouse loft elements like brick walls and industrial lighting with some fun accents of colour.  We love to play with mixing textures and adding some fun and quirky elements….

Loft elements – the ‘expected’ …

Often when we think of a loft style we think of raw materials like brick or concrete, wood and metal.  This loft model suite has a lot of those materials.  The kitchen lighting with an industrial look (above the island), the wide plank hardwood floors, the muted wood grain cabinets, the oversized black trim windows and that brick accent wall….are all seen here in this space.

and the unexpected….

Typically in this style of decor we see a lot of texture from raw materials but we see mostly neutrals – we decided to add some great colour and pattern – so this is the unexpected factor in this model loft.  This rug was a piece that we fell in love with and the bold teal tone is not something you often see in this decor style – that was one of the first pieces we found and wanted in this space.

The teal and the orange tone from the brick wall are natural complimentary colours – so we knew that this would work but it was unexpected.  We sourced out a simple and clean looking sofa in a great neutral tone would be a great canvas for some fun pillows.

We carried this bold colour theme into the bedroom as well for some consistency to keep the whole space looking fluid and therefore larger.  Looking at our inspiration vision e-decor boards – our final product isn’t that far off….

Shop the loft look….

This art piece from Urban Barn is a favourite and it looks fantastic in the bedroom – it is a large piece (and we love oversized art) and would look great above a sofa…

These counter height stools in metal wire with a white leather seat are actually really comfortable – They offer great seating at the kitchen island but because of the wire detail they don’t look bulky and visually take up space.

Lighting makes a huge difference in a space and this industrial kitchen island pendant from Wayfair – really plays into the look of the space.

Metal is a big element in loft decor – we love these metal and stack-able bistro chairs – they are also easy to clean and as they age over time – it just adds character.

Warehouse industrial style is really unconventional and doesn’t really follow any rules – it easily blends with other styles which is just one of the reasons it is so popular….

I love the look of Industrial Lighting! There is a certain authenticity to it and a simplicity, too! I love how Industrial lighting transforms the look of a space and it adds instant cool factor! Plus you can really merge it with so many other styles – it’s pretty versatile!

I have to share with you this amazing Industrial light fixture – we installed in my brother’s house – it’s fantastic! When I first showed it to him, he had his doubts but then he realized that he trusts me and I would never lead him astray. And of course, he’s getting tons of compliments….

So this light fixture is basically so black electrical wire that you ‘swag’ on the ceiling and you add you bulbs – that’s it! You can play around with the placement of the small hooks on the ceiling and the length of the hanging wire.  And the light comes in different sizes too (more wires and therefore more bulbs in the larger version). We played around with some vintage light bulbs – it’s hard to tell in this photo but we have 3 different shapes of vintage bulbs and we installed them at random (which is bit tougher than you would think as we naturally opt for a pattern). The vintage bulbs really add more character to the industrial look.

If you love this Industrial Light fixture as much as we do – you can buy one for under $100! Click HERE

Here are some more of our favourite Industrial Light Fixtures for under $100.00

This Industrial Pendant light with rope detail is simple yet still interesting. This would add a great industrial touch to a kitchen island.

So this is just like my brother’s light fixture in his living room.  He doesn’t have a dining light fixture which is why we did a WOW statement light fixture in his living room.  This unique piece would be amazing in a living room, dining room or even a bedroom. I love it with the vintage bulbs!

We are seeing some great merging of Industrial with mid century modern designThis sputnik light fixture in the gunmetal finish with vintage bulbs works well in a modern space or an Industrial one. This looks amazing in a dining room.

This looks like Industrial lighting you might see on a construction site or old warehouse – well that’s the idea! This 5 pendant chandelier with vintage bulbs adds character and a ‘loft look’ to any space.

This is my absolute hands-down favourite Industrial Pendant light – it’s perfect and so transitional! I love the simplicity of this fixture – you can appreciate the glass but also the vintage light bulb. Love how these look over a kitchen island (and the price is incredible!)

Simple, metal sphere with one vintage bulb is a perfect example of industrial lighting! This would add a ton of rustic and industrial character to a kitchen . This pendant is a great example of industrial lighting.

Industrial lighting can really add so much character to your home decor and it works with so many different styles.

Lighting fixtures totally transform the look of any room….

how-to-achieve-country-industrial-style
Do you love the blend of Country and Industrial style décor? So do we! Here are some great suggestions on how to incorporate this decorating style in your home.

Country Industrial is a blend of two different décors that work together beautifully. Country is a warm and inviting decorating style that typically uses lots of wood tones, plaids, stripes, floral, toile and patterns. The colour palette is varied, but warm tones make this a cozy style. Lots of cozy throw blankets and textured pillows make for cozy home décor. Country style is filled with tons of character.

Industrial décor is very rustic, and incorporates more harsh tones such as various metals such as brass, copper, chrome, and silver. Reclaimed wood and brick is often inserted into an Industrial room.

Now, how do we marry the two and make a warm space with industrial elements?

To create a Country Industrial room, you must have some variety. Mixing patterns, metals, and various wood tones is the key to creating this decorating style. That being said, there are SO many options to make this style exactly your personality. First, decide what you absolutely love.

Here are some tips on how to achieve this style.

1. A reclaimed wood table.

Whether this is a dining room table, a coffee table or end tables, adding reclaimed wood is a great element that can be both industrial and country at the same time. Lots of reclaimed wood tables come with a funky element, whether it’s a wrought iron detail, a reclaimed wheel or metallic accent, adding wood will be both warm and cool at the same time.

2. Pattern.

Pattern is the more country side of this style. If you don’t want to incorporate traditional country fabrics like plaids and toiles into the space, try a more modern stripe, maybe a throw pillow with an animal on it, or a fur pillow and cozy throw. It adds a fun, whimsical element to your room. Keep in mind that when it comes to colour – the tones tend to be of nature and kind of subdued – nothing overly bright and / or bold.

3. Metal Elements

There is lots of versatility with adding metal. Do you like a metal side table? Metal side chairs? Metal pendants? What tones of metal do you like? Do you want a pop of colour somewhere? Here is where you personality can shine through!

4. Area Rug

A great place to incorporate a bit more country into the room is with a textured/ pattern area rug. A variety of textures make a space feel cozy. Do you love the look of wool rugs? Or do you prefer a stripe or plaid pattern? An area room helps warm up a space in any room, and also helps to define a certain space in a room.

5. Furniture.

Furniture is a big variable. A more streamlined sofa with metal legs can work in this style of home, or we can go to the other end of the spectrum and add a big cozy traditional sofa. It depends on what you like! Both options will work in this type of space. Be sure to add an accent chair or two as well, incorporating the opposite element in the room. Cozy traditional sofa? Try adding a metal or wood side chair to balance the two.

6. Accessories.

Table lamps, book shelves, décor pieces are all places to add some metal, wood or colour. Try to have some common elements or else your room is going to be more eclectic. Harmony throughout a room makes it looks planned and thought-out, not just some random things thrown together in hopes of it looking good. always look for connections in a room – so if you have a metal accent piece try and ‘echo’ that material at least in one more spot in the room.  Common connections keep a look cohesive.

This style is so relaxed and full of warmth and character – and what’s great about it is that through mixing these elements you can achieve a totally unique look that is all yours.
